Does anybody recommeded a reasonabley priced hotel in Lisbon. I am still waiting for RS Porugal book in the mail but would like to get my first 2 nights in Lisbon confirmed. This is for the 4 and 5 of September.
thanks. Everyone on this site has been so helpful!
Lisbon's airport is actually located within the city of Lisbon; not in the suburbs like Heathrow or De Gaulle. Thus, most any hotel is only a short cab ride away.
The Residencial Florescente in Lisbon is great and a very good value with a perfect location. Ask for a room on the 6th floor which has been remodeled.
Last Oct we stayed at Albergaria Residencial Insulana incl brfast. excellent value and very central. www.insulana.cjb.net in RS book.
Public city bus #44 or #45 (1.10 euro)or Aerobus #91 both take you within 2 blocks of this hotel.
Stew, check out this link for Rick's recommendations for Lisbon accomodations: http://www.ricksteves.com/books/update/etbd_portspain.htm#lisbon
we stayed at the Albergaria Residencial Insulana as well and felt it was in a great location and good price, I think it was 55e a night and it included breakfast, bread, rolls, jam, tea or coffee. it was great walking distance to everything!
our flight left early, at 7:55am and we just took a cab because we backpacked and didn't want to deal with the busses. our cab driver was very quick, took about 15 min to drive there and cost 6.5 euros, we gave him 10e since we were leaving and didn't need the euros anymore. i believe you are going from the airport to your first hotel so you should be able to take the aerobus easily, just ask when you arive at the TI in the main area. good luck!
