My husband and I are looking for hotels near the train stations in Hamburg and Osnabruck. We are traveling by train to both cities and would like some suggestions from those of you who may have stayed in those areas recently. We are happy with clean rooms, not fancy, but bathroom in the room. Any help would be appreciated.

I've stayed at Hotel Alster Hof in Hamburg and found it very comfortable. It sits near the main train station and just around the corner from the Binnenalster. Price, however, is in the business class range.

Hi, It has been ages since I was in Osnabrück and its train station, so I can't help you there. But Hamburg is different. Outside the station (Hbf) when you take the Kirchenallee exit, are numerous hotels both cheap and pricey. I've stayed in both types. A nice comfortable decent place is Hotel Fürst Bismarck, a bit more expensive is the 3 star Hotel Europäischer Hof, nice restaurant attached to it. To the far end of the block on your right is the white building Hotel Graf Moltke, cheaper than the first two above. All are on Kirchenallee, across the street from the Hbf. and quite recommendable.

I like to use trip advisor, but in the reviews I wasn't getting an idea which places were close to the train station, so your information was helpful. Becky
