Hi Laurie- We stayed at the Simony in June of 2009. Two adults & two children 16 & 20. We really enjoyed the hotel- small rooms but cute, quaint, clean, great views and all good. Breakfast in the main foyer was great. It was a bit chilly & rainy that summer- the streets were flooded & the night air was foggy. It was right out of Lord of the Rings! We ate, drank, explored & absolutely loved our time in Hallstatt! Hope you do too!

Hi Laurie, We stayed at Haus Hepi in Obertraun, which is just around the lake from Hallstatt (about a 5-10 min drive away) and only one stop away from the Hallstatt station. It is owned by a British couple, is a short walk from the train station, and was absolutely beautiful with fantastic service and delicious dinners cooked by Larry. It was less expensive than the options in Hallstatt and for us a better value than if we had stayed in Hallstatt, but we prefer to stay outside the centre of the popular areas when we travel. I know you didn't ask about anything outside Hallstatt but thought I'd share because we would highly recommend it. Chris
