I wanted to know about the hotels in Granada. I am planning to stay at the "$" hotels listed in Rick's book. I am not looking for anything fancy. Just decent comfort and safety. I am planning for the Lisboa (near Plaze del Carmen). Anybody has any experience with the "$" hotels in Spain (Granada)?
not in rick's book, but last summer on our vacation, we stayed at the Carlos V and it was a great location and price. nothing fancy, indeed.
when i was in college we stayed at the hotel inglaterra which was also very nice. i love granada! it is a magical place!
We stayed at the RS recomended Hostal Viena and it was great. Just steps from Plaza Nueva. Triple with bath was 65 euros this past June.
Thanks a lot guys. I should probably add that I will have my wife and 2yrs old son with me. Would you still recommend the "$" hotels?
Also, how big are the Double beds (are the same as what he have here in the US).
Thanks again!!
I always ask about bed size. Rick has guidelines for that, but I can't remember where. Generally, a double is I think about 5"-6" narrower than our Queens, so if you're used to a king, you might ask about twin rooms. Usually the twin beds are pushed together like a king. It may cost a little more, but might be worth it. We once had a 'queen' bed in an apt. in Paris that was so narrow & so soft that if either of us moved, we rolled to the center, face to face, like Rorschach ink blots!
Our triple at the Hostal Viena was 3 single beds in a room; not overly cramped like you might imagine. My 4 year old thought it was great that she had her own bed. Hostal Viena was fine as far as a $ hotel goes; quiet, clean and comfortable.
