Hotels in Collioure,France and St. Jean de Luz France

My husband and I are traveling through France and northern Spain in the Fall.We are driving.Does anyone have suggestions of good hotels where they have stayed in these towns? I have seen the hotel Mariska in St. Jean de Luz and it seems very nice although I know nothing about it. Parking seems to be a problem in these 2 towns and we are definitely driving. We are open to other options as well in these areas. we chose these two places because we want to make day trips into the mountains as well as visit places like San Sebastion, Bilbao, and Rioja on the western side and Cadaques and Figueres, Ceret on the eastern side. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We did almost the identical driving trip four years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. In St. Jean de Luz we stayed at the Maria Christina which was highly recommended on a few sites. It was fine, certainly not luxurious, a typical *. It was for sale at that time and should be under new management by now. Street parking but it is a residential area so not too bad. In Collioure we chose Les Caranques for the great location - the view towards the bay was wonderful; however, the hotel was very basic - really really pared down. Another *. But it did have its own parking lot/ Even though the hotel was on a cliff and there was no vegetation or water nearby, the mosquitos were a real plague! Huge, nasty critters - so if you are considering that part of town make sure you have
lots of repellant. There was quite a steep walk down to the port.

Casa Pairal is a good hotel located within Collioure with its own parking which is included in the room rate. We visited end-of-June; mosquitoes mentioned in previous post were not noticeable in the town.
