Does anyone know of a reasonable or moderately expensive hotel in Barcelona with good beds? I have a back problem and the bed is one of the most important things. we will be there in November.
Hotel Cathedral, near the Cathederal...new and attractive. I stayed there a couple of years ago and it was very good...great location, close to Las Ramblas, and other sites as well.
I stayed at a hotel on the pedestrian zone near Plz Catalunya in November of 2010 - Catalonia Hotel Albinoni Barcelona. The public spaces were wonderful and the beds are just fine. The rates were negotiable too. The location is great...you're within walking distance of Las Ramblas, some great tapas places and lots of walking/shopping. You're near the metro and bus services too. Enjoy!
I got a great rate a couple of years back at the B-Hotel in Barcelona and had the best sleep I've ever had overseas. I believe I paid under $100 per night. The hotel is right in the Placa d'Espanya. There's a metro stop nearby and its actually within a 15 minute walk to the MNAC museum and the Sants train station. The one downside was that there weren't a lot of restaurants close by for dinner. They do have a touristy kind of tapas bar in the lobby and a limited room service menu. Other than the proximity to good restaurants, I had no complaints about this hotel.
We, too, stayed at the B-Hotel in Barcelona http://www.b-hotel.com/, in June of this year. It is very modern, and it took a bit to figure out how to turn on the lights, etc. We really enjoyed it. The hop-on/hop-off stops very nearby at the Placa de Espanya. The rooftop infinity pool was quite amazing. We received an excellent "B-Days" rate of 70 euros for a double room. We found many tapas bars in the area, so we were pleased with the location.
