What is moderately priced? You can check the archives or RS books, however, I usually stay at the Hotel Filosoof for around 130 E for 2, including a light breakfast. It's just off the park and within easy walking distance to the museums and attractions on a residential street.

My family always stays at the Owl Hotel. Copy and paste this link into your address bar and it will take you to their website: www.owl-hotel.nl Current rates are 105 - 130 Euros for a double room. This is inclusive of breakfast and all taxes. The Owl is situated in a quiet neighborhood behind the Marriott Hotel a block or so, and near Vondel Park. It is within walking distance of the Liedseplan, Canal Boats, museums, and the Hard Rock Cafe. Very comfortable and quiet.

Thanks. I had wondered about the Owl. The Hotel Fita also looked to be a good possibility. I believe it is in that same area. Are you familiar with it?

I have stayed at the Quentin Arrive Hotel on Haarlemmerstraat (5 minutes from the train station) for about 70 euros per night for a double room. I would also recommend Frederic's (suggested by Rick Steves) - the office is on Brouwersgracht, also only 5 minutes from the train station, and the hotel was another 5-minute walk from the office. This hotel was also about 70 euros for a double. The bathroom is shared if you have a double room in these hotels.

Janeil, I am not familiar with the Hotel Fita, and as I said my family always stays at the Owl. This goes back to the 1980's, and we have never been disappointed. Kevin

We used Priceline and got the Movenpick for 82 Euro per night.

Try Hotel Aalders, near Rijksmuseum and also near Hotel Fita. Should be under 150 euros, maybe less.
