I was think of driving fron Lisbon south and into Southern Spain up to Madrid.
Is it easy to find reasonably priced hotels along the way as you go south? Any idea what I sould expect to pay?
We will be there Sept 5 to 15 where we will need hotels. after that my wife flys home and I will just find Hostels in the big cities, I hope.

In 2005 we stayed in Pension Mare in Salema and it is great. In Sevilla, we stayed at Hotel Amadeus which also was another great suggestion from RS. Check Rick's guide books, tripadvisor.com and check out the following link for Salema suggestion:
