Our family will be driving to Paris this summer and need to stop near Lyon, France. Does anyone have a reccommendation for lodging, with reasonable rates, near Lyon, near the highway to Paris?
kelly I would look at the hotel listings for Lyon on tripadvisor.com France forums. You could also look ( but you don't have to use , just get names and addresses ) on booking.com . Having driven around France years ago, there were always clean servicable hotels/motel chains around towns off the highways.. not destination type hotels but perfectly good for transit sleeping . Remember its ok to ask to see a room before you pay for it, in most cases that request is not an issue . So if you stop somewhere and are not convinced that the room will be up to snuff, simply ask if you could see the room.
I don't know how near to Lyon you need to be, but a 45 minute drive, and not too far off the A road down from Paris, is a great little chambre d'hote in St. Laurent d'Oingt: http://www.chambres-dhotes-beaujolais.fr/
Thank you for your advice.
