Any recommendations of a hotel at CDG airport besides the ones in Rick's book?
Accor hotels, a big international chain based in France, has several hotels at CDG. I like the Ibis and Etap chains, basic, but clean and cheap accommodations. Closest is an Ibis right near the RER station...there's also an Etap and Ibis about 15 minutes away from the RER station which may be a bit cheaper. Go to accorhotels.com and use "Roissy en France" as your location. The ones that are a shuttle bus ride away are labelled something like "CDG Paris Nord 2." They also have several upscale properties at the airport as well.
I don't know what's in Rick's book, but last summer we stayed at the Ibis that is at the airport. As was previously said, it's clean, comfortable, and well-priced. You get off the RER, walk a few steps, and you're there. When departing, you walk a few steps, get on the airport shuttle tram, and ride to your terminal. On their website they had a pre-pay, no-cancellation special. I'm remembering that we paid 60 euros for the night. At check-in, they also offered a very inexpensive breakfast; but we chose to have our last French breakfast of delectable croissants and cafes au lait at a cafe in the terminal.
We too stayed at the Ibis. Be careful. There two and one is a bit out of the way. The one close to the RER is fine, as said above. The breakfast, booked on-line was 9.00 Euro, but bought that day was 7.00 Euro per person. Breakfast was a good deal, with good coffee, juices, eggs (boiled) ham, cheese, breads, cereals, and fresh fruit. Go early in the morning to get all of the available foods. Later in the morning, they start to run out and will not replenish some items. It is a buffet so they can do this.
There is another hotel right beside this one. I think it is a Hilton, but not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Last spring we stayed at the Marriott. A little pricier than we'd normally pay, we were most interested in the shuttle schedules for our next day departure...which worked smoothly. Easy little walk into Roissy to kill some evening hours. Big rooms, US style for what it's worth. They'd told us at check-in breakfast was included; next morning the restuarant said sorry, that was a mistake. I agreed, but noted it wasn't my mistake, and they promptly and graciously offered us their huge buffet breakfast. Made my day. I believe a Holiday Inn for less money was very nearby.
