Hotelrunners-Amsterdam

Hey all, I'm currently madly trying to book a place to stay in Amsterdam for the upcoming busy May24th weekend. Mostly everywhere is booked, so on a whim I tried using the company 'hotel runners' as recommended in my let's go travel book. I'm just slightly weary with using this company, has anyone ever heard of it? or used it at all??
anything at all will be helpful. THANKS!

Never heard of it.. Have you tried the Hotel Fita, Hotel Brouwer, or the Wieckman? They are all moderate in price and close to everything.

You can always just avoid the situation and stay in Haarlem, daytripping into the city. I did that because I couln't find anything in my price range left in Amsterdam, and am really happy I did and would probably do it on purpose next time. Amsterdam is a bit too crazy for me, and Haarlem gave me a taste of a smaller, cuter Holland that I found comforting after the craziness of Amsterdam. Train is about 15-20 minutes. If you're using a Let's go book, I'm assuming you're open to hostels? If so, the stayok in Haarlem is really nice, but way out of the center- make sure to get a bus.

I am using a service called VRBO.com. (Vacation Rentals by Owner). There are 5 of us, so an apartment is cheaper for us than getting two hotel rooms. They might have some apartments left.

THANKS ALL!!
i've decided not to use this 'hotelrunners' company, it seems kind of sketch.
instead i've booked a place at the radio inn youth hostel. probably not the best place but dead cheap. all your suggestions have been REALLY helpful, but they all seem to be booked for this weekend.
