Looking for a good suggestion on hotel close to airport with free shuttle to ap. something close to a train so can go to city center.
Wanting to drop off my car the night before flight then take shuttle to hotel.

Train station located directly INSIDE the Zurich Airport so no need for hotel with airport shuttle. Stay anywhere near a train...even in Luzern, then just hop on the train directly into the airport. You need to get rid of that rental car as soon as you can...absolutely no rental vehicles needed for tourists in Switzerland.

I stayed at a Mercure hotel about 15 minutes away by train. All we had to do was walk out of the hotel and across the track to access the train. We were also about 12 or 15 minutes from Zurich. Accor hotels are usually clean,
and have a decent restaurant as well as other ammenties.

@ Paula . from your description this sounds like the Accor Novotel Glattpark . As you say , it's part of the Accor group. No free shuttle , but as Paula says , the city tram is right in front of the hotel ; 5 minutes to the airport , 15 minutes or so to city center . I took this location for just the reasons you asked . Reliable Accor quality . I'm sure you'll be happy!

I consider a night at an " airport hotel" instead of in the city center a lost opportunity. There is no need to do that in Zürich, unless your flight is super early in the morning. You can stay in downtown Zürich with walking distance of the train station, and catch a train in the morning. Travel time is 12 minutes and the station, as Tim stated, is right IN the airport. This way you can spend your last night enjoying Switzerland instead of at a chain hotel near the airport.
