Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel that they like in Annecy. The trip is in mid-June. Thanks. Also, did you like Annecy? What did you do?
We stayed at Hotel de Savoie on rue Francois 1 and loved it, although it's gotten mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. If you stay, get a room with a view of the canal. Hotel Alexandra is also very nice.
I love Annecy. Here is a blog story I wrote about the city; there are several more there in 2009, as we spent a week in Annecy that year. http://www.mainelywinenews.blogspot.com/2010/04/back-in-annecy-france.html
Like the previous poster, I have a couple of entries in my blog for you to look at. I think they will answer your questions. We were there in late June last year. There are lots of pictures and some embedded links. Here are the links to my blog entries. The first is about Annecy in general --
http://travelswithtrout.blogspot.com/2011/10/europe-june-2011-annecy.html. The second is about a trip around Lake Annecy on a boat -- http://travelswithtrout.blogspot.com/2011/10/europe-june-2011-lake-annecy.html. Be sure to click on any pictures that interest you. That will take you to a larger version. Also, check out the embedded links -- especially the one that says it's not for the faint of heart. That would give you something that might be fun to do! Contact me directly if you want. We had a great and relaxing time there.
Hi-We have enjoyed Hotel du Palais Iisle. I love Annecy-it is like Disneyland, only real. The hotel is located just across from the lake, centrally located. Small, but if you can get a room overlooking the canal, it is fun. So very close to everything. Stayed for 4 days, and liked it so much stayed another day. what to do in Annecy? It is gorgeous! The lake, of course. Take a walk along the shore, stare at the bluer thanblue water. We rented bikes for 4 days, and rode every day at 3 until 6, stopping to swim. The trail is easy, safe, and you see such wonderful small towns and gardens. We also rented a paddle boat one afternoon for about an hour. Heaven. Walked the town morning til night, enjoyed the great restaurants. Really, it is the most relaxing place in France, and suchbeauty. Enjoy!!
We stayed at the Hotel des Alps from Rick's book and thought it was great (we have neve gone wrong using hotels from his books). In Annecy we just walked around town and took a cruise on the lake. Don't miss the park down by the water very scenic. We also took a daytrip to Chamomix from Annecy.
