hotel within train station in munich

Do you mean the Hofbräuhaus? It's not located at the main train station. It's nearer to the Marienplatz...is that the "platz" to which you are referring?

I was unaware of one in the train station, although the Europäischerhof, amongst others, is right across the street.

We stayed at the LeMeridian directly across the street from Munich Hauptbahnhof. 4-5 star hotel. We got a GREAT deal, too, for a hotel of this quality. About US $120/night final price for 4 nights. I prepaid in US funds thru hotels.com. (No, I do not work for them). We used it's convenience to use Munich as a base for day trips to Berchtesgaden, Neuschwanstein, the Audi factory tour in Ingolstadt, Dachau. The neighborhood around the Hbf can be a bit scuzzy. This was great.I had shoulder surgery and was restricted on what I could lift, etc. So we used this as a base next to the train station to make it easy on me. They even had a porter take our bags to the train station for us when we left. At that price, it was a real steal. English is spoken by most of the hotel staff. Top rate.
