Who cares if its a Rick recommendation ,, there are THOUSANDS of hotels in Paris and Rick can't check them all out,, but,
you should go to tripadvisor.com and check out the reader reviews. You can either get to the Paris hotel reviews by going on the site and finding the France forums, or just type in " Hotel Valadon Hotel reviews" on your google search and up the site will pop!!
I have heard posters over at Tripadvisor recommend it from their own experiences but I haven't stayed there myself or read much about it as I have never really looked into it.

Teresa: Tried to book Valadon 2 months ago for a May stay; they had no rooms but were helpful and pleasant in their reply email and provided some alternatives in the area. It shows up on Trip Advisor as #10 of 1700+ hotels in Paris; no guarantees in life but can't be too bad with that kind of rating. As the other posters said, RSteves recommended hotels are but a small sample of the acommodations in Paris and you must seek out other information sources. The Ritz isn't in Steves book either but I suspect it's in the Michelin Red Guide; is that, though, where you'd stay?

We've stayed at Hotel Valadon on several occasions and have always found it to be very pleasant , well situated and budget friendly. The owners are helpful and the breakfast very nice .

We just booked here for the middle of May based on Trip Advisor recommendations (as mentioned earlier). I agree that they have been very friendly in their emails.

125 Euro/night w/ breakfast from them directly.

I have heard that they have recently renovated some and I know it is a good value. Not fancy, but a nice 2 star. Close to the Rue Cler- on street back.

We just got back from Paris (5/8 - 5/15/08) and stayed at the Hotel Valadon, based on Trip Advisor reviews. We had a wonderful experience! We are rather novice travelers, 3 empty-nester women. The hotel is in a great location--safe and convenient to all the major sites. The hosts were charming, English-speaking, very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was not just "free", but well-presented and a lovely way to start the day. Our rooms were very quiet and super-clean, had flat-screen TVs, clean grout and good water pressure in the shower, fresh towels daily--everything we needed to be comfortable. All for 109e a day. If you want room service, gym, spa and all the US typicals, you won't find them there. There's no restaurant--other than the breakfast, but there is an honor bar and a fridge where you can keep a few things of your own. They will let you use the dining room and have dishes/cutlery available for your use there. Hotel Valadon was a great choice for us.
