I have booked some hotels in Barcelona and Madrid via Expedia and paid hotel taxes, which I was told included VAT taxes. Are there any other taxes I should be aware of when I check into my room? I want to make sure that having paid hotel taxes I don't get hit with those I may not be aware of. Thanks

According to the "final price" edict of the EU, all prices should be inclusive of VAT and service charges. However, each area has what in Germany is called a "Kurtax" (resort tax), usually about 1 Euro, which is added after the "final price".
