In the old city area?
Can one find something close in, clean, at or around 80 Euro?? If not, how much more do we need to allow?
Don't need big or fancy. Just clean, pleasant, safe and easy base for walking to things from.
Thanks for any ideas.

Hi Phil,
Last year we stayed at the YH Giralda, which we got from our Rick Steves guidebook. At the time, we were able to book it on Expedia.com for a rate of $77/night (which is about €58), but it didn't include breakfast (many cafe options nearby).
The location in the Santa Cruz neighborhood was spectacular (less than 5 minute walk to the big cathedral) and our room was super comfortable and clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
We're staying at Hotel Alcantara for 112 Euros a night for a triple. also recommended by Rick Steves and also in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, both big reasons I chose this hotel.
You might look at Hosteria del Laurel. It's been a few years since we stayed there, but you might get it for around euro 90-100 per night.
Thanks - I'm still searching and calling, including these leads. And I'll keep searching til the absolutely best is found - that's just the way I am....
