In my trip planning for September, I'm considering heading back to Amsterdam to fly home (rather than from Frankfurt) and it looks like an afternoon and night in Utrecht would work, with numerous early trains to Schiphol the next day to catch my flight. Any suggestions for a small hotel near the train station in Utrecht? Thanks!
I stayed at the Mary K, which is a small hotel not too far from the train station. It's not "cheap," but it was lovely, and I thought it was good value. I stayed in a "cozy small room" (mine was The Bedstead), which was actually a pretty good size for one person, and would be comfortable for two who could share a bed. http://www.marykhotel.com/site/en/ I liked Utrecht a lot. The Railway Museum, the Centraal Museum, and the Museum of Music Boxes and Fairground Organs were highlights, as was just walking around the town, with its unusual bi-level canals.
Thank you, Harold. I'll check it out. Thanks for the other info, too. I love walking around the old centers of the towns!
