My husband and I will be in Koln for 2-3 days and would like recommendations for a hotel in the middle of everything. We have a modest budget of around 150 euros a night (is that reasonable). We will not have a car and are arriving by train. Thank you.

Our favorite is the Coellner Hof Hotel. About a 10 min. walk from the train station, this hotel oozes old world charm, but has all the modern amenities and truly one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had. Decor is beautiful, plus the rooms and the bathrooms are large. Unless there is a trade fair going on, price should be under 100 euro per night. I have been here once with my husband and he has been here twice. Many of our friends have stayed here too and everyone pretty much raves about it. http://www.coellnerhof.de/

Hi Suzann. A couple years ago a friend and I stayed at the City Hotel Koeln AMBASSADOR am Barbarossaplatz, at
Barbarossaplatz 4. It's a short S-bahn ride from the Old Town. I don't think it's very expensive - we were students when we stayed there and we wouldn't have paid more than 50 euros a night each.
