Can anyone please recommend any hotels in central Lisbon in addition to those recommended in the book? I had booked Residencia?l Florescent?e through their website but received an email from them today that they can not honor my reservation - so scrambling to find something for my trip in a few weeks and all the book recommendations are booked - looking to spend 100 euros or less if possible. Thank you!
It's been four years, but I stayed at the Ibis Lisboa Liberdade in 2007 and had a great time. It was within walking distance to the center, and I felt safe walking back and forth at night. It was a chain hotel, clean, and on the bus line. Taxi to the airport was reasonable for my early flight. Negatives: it's on a hill, and the price is higher than other budget options. Hope you find a place!
You might get the VIP Eden for that price online. It's right on Praca dos Restaurodores. Nice view from the roof, but my room was a bit run-down.
Since it's been five years, I couldn't remember the name of the place, but here's another good thing about digital pictures. ... zoomed into the brass plate next to the front door: "As Janelas Verdes". We walked everyplace from here. There's a common area on the third or fourth floor overlooking the Cruise terminal for "happy hour". Nicely decorated, clean, and great service. We had to leave the hotel at 6:00 am and were worried about the taxi arriving and the wakeup call. Not only did they assure us that we'd be taken care of, they had coffee ready for us also. We'd stay there again if back in Portugal.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations! - I will check them all out and keep my fingers crossed one has an opening still! ;)
I've stayed at the Tivoli Lisboa on Avenida Liberdade and found it to be excellent; The same firm owns the Tivoli Jardim, which is nearby.
