Hotel recommendations for Vienna....

Hi. A friend and I will be staying in Vienna for 2 nights prior to joining the a Prague tour in September. We plan to take the train to Prague on Sunday 9/9.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel that is centrally located for sightseeing, and hopefully near the train station?

Thanks in advance!

I stayed at a wonderful, not expensive hotel that I want to tell the world about....especially since they rescued me & my elderly parents after our reservations at another hotel fell through (don't get me started on that!) It's the Hotel Bleckmann, and it's near the Schottentor. It's not near the train station, but I don't think you really want to stay there. http://www.hotelbleckmann.at/homepage-e.htm Please check this out, and tell your friends.

We will be staying at the Ibis. It is a great chain that we stay in when staying in a large city. It is clean, consistant and has a bar. It is part of the Accor chain. There are three hotels in the downtown area. I'm sure one is near the train station. Most that we have stayed in have a shuttle. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

We have stayed twice at K&T Boardinghouse (59 E for small double without bath - I think still 69E for very nice double room with bath) on Marianhilfer Strasse (just came home last week). With a transportation pass (24 hour or 3 day), it's easy to get everywhere (and can be walked if you are ambitious). It is just 2 stops from the Westbahnhof on the metro(and on the bus route that goes to the Sudbahnhof), and on the metro line to Wien Mitte (which is where the CityAirportTrain comes in), so handy to the trains. They don't do breakfast, but there are several stores and bakeries in the same block (plan ahead for Sunday - nothing is open).

I was in Vienna on July 13th and stayed 2 nights in Pension Suzanne (http://www.pension-suzanne.at). It was a lovely hotel & everybody there was really nice. It has convenient transportation and a tram nearby that you can hop on. I was reading that some people had complaints about street noise, but I didn't experience much of that. The rooms were very comfortable and showers were warm and nice, especially have a long day of sightseeing!
