Have checked some of the highly rated hotels and no availability for the nights we need, October 2012. We are going to use Nice as a base for 3 days. How about the Best Western Hotel Roosevelt? Or any other recommendations.
The Etap in Nice is around 70-75.00 per night for 3 people, not each. It is on the waterfront. ?Etap Hotel Nice Californie Lenval 60 Avenue de la Californie 06200 Nice, France Get directions ? 08 92 70 03 76

We appreciated the view, location, breakfast and overall comfort of the Mercure Marché aux Fleurs in 2008. I would imagine that the rates have gone up considerably though!
Fred, You might have a look at Hotel Swiss. It's right at the end of the Promenade des Anglais, the views are great (depending on which room you have) and it's an easy walk to the "old town" area which has great restaurants and shops. Happy travels!
I stayed at Hotel Durante in Nice two years ago. It is close to the train station, but quiet because it is in a cul de sac. Rates were reasonable. The hotel has park-like grounds with benches/picnic tables, etc. I always like to stay near train stations when I can find a nice place. There may be parking at the hotel.
I'm going to be staying here this summer:
http://www.villasainthubert.com/en.php I'm into the whole quaint hotel thing, but that's not for everyone.
Villa les cygnes is a wonderful place. It is a short walk to the Prommenade and major sights in Nice, but the place is wonderful, hosts friendly, and breakfast as good as continental gets. Rated #3 among hotels by tripadvisor.com. Bus connection just down the hill which goes to airport and to connections to all points on the Cote d' Azur. Host will advise and print maps and timetables for all connections.
I stayed at the Best Western Roosevelt last May and thought it was wonderful. We stayed in a triple that was huge, had balconies, and wasnt too far from the train station/beach. I dont think you can go wrong staying there.
Hey Fred,
I think you should give a try searching Nice hotels here http://holidayinnicehotels.com/ I also did cross checking and there are still lots of hotels which are vacant in October!!
Fred, I'm planning on visiting Nice in November and found Hotel Florence. I have a child and was looking for a nice hotel that would be able to accomadate us without breaking the bank. http://www.hotel-florence-nice.com/en/ Hope this helps. Kate
