Hi, I'm taking a very short, impromptu trip from Detroit to visit the Christmas Market in Nuremberg on Dec 10. I'm only there 3 nights and 4 days. Does anyone have a hotel/inn/B&B/other accommodation recommendation that is close/convenient to the market that they really enjoyed?

Have't stayed there yet but I got a reservation for this December at the Hotel-Elch in Nuremberg. The hotel is over 500 years old, has a restaurant and breakfast is included. I believe I'm paying 115E per night. I don't have access at this moment to the website or my confirmation, but I found it in the RS guide, then on the Internet. Nuremberg (Nürnberg) is one of the largest and most popular markets. There is quite a demand for rooms this time of year. It will probably take some homework. We have rooms at the Motel One that we located through Hotel Reservation Service: http://www.hrs.com/web3/ The Christmas Market is at the town center. HRS shows the distance of each hotel from the center. It has a rating for each hotel that is limited people who have actually stayed at the hotel with HRS reservations. No padding the score. We have stayed at the "Ibis Nürnberg City" on a previous trip. It was just outside the wall, 10 minutes walk from the market center. Excellent breakfast and good staff. Prices have gone up the last couple of years. Good luck with your search.

A couple of years ago, we stayed at the Holiday Inn inside the Old Town. At that time, is was brand new and quite wonderful!! We were pleasantly surprised. It was close to the Chrstmas Marrkets. "The Brathaus" restaurant is terrific if you enjoy brats, sauerkraut, pretzels, and beer! Have a great trip! We love Nuremberg!

Jennifer, I just booked at Ibis Nuernberg City as Gary Mc D recommended-for 22 Dec, only 39 euros which is an exceptional price.
