Hotel recommendation needed for Frankfurt Airport

Hello, could you please recommend a hotel at the Frankfurt airport (or close with a free shuttle)?

I am looking for something very simple, hopefully under 60 euro. We have a 12 hour layover overnight and just need a place to sleep and shower before getting back to the airport for an early morning flight.

Thanks!

I don't think you will find anything near the airport for that kind of price. The hotels that are right next door to the airport, do charge a premium for that kind of availability. It is just as easy to take a train into town. It only takes 15 min. Or of course a taxi if you like. I don't know what time of day you are looking at which might affect where you can stay. You could certainly get a place in FF for under 60€ unless you will be there during a trade fair.

There may be hotels that look right price wise, but they will be a pain to get to unless you take a taxi, because they are "near" the airport, but nothing else.

Thank you Jo and Harry. I will take your advice and find a hotel by the train station.

If someone has a low budget hotel recommendation by the train station, please post.

The hotel excelsior looks wonderful, but maybe a bit fancy for what we need.

Oh, do you think it's under 60 euro (I assumed that it was more expensive by the perks!)

Their website doesn't list prices.

I just looked under the www.hrs.com website and found these hotels which I would consider to be nice and their price was 60€ or so for a double. Continental, Colour Hotel Garni, Leonardo city center. Excelsior was a bit more. All of these hotels are right across the street from the Hauptbahnhof.

Last month, before a flight out of FRA, I stayed at Hotel Königshof in Mainz. Price for a single is €62 on weekdays, €57 on weekends, breakfast included. It's a nice place, and if you need it, they speak English. It's right across the Bahnhofplatz from the station, then a 27 min, €3,60, S-Bahn ride to the airport.

I agree with Lee, the hotel he mentioned in Mainz was wonderful! We stayed there in October based on recommendations from this board and enjoyed it. We too only had a 12 hour layover and by the time we got to Mainz, had a great dinner at a Spanish restaurant across the street, it was after mid-night--late when you consider we had to be back at the airport by 8 am. But it was worth it. The hotel puts on a wonderful buffet breakfast and even opened it early just for us. They couldn't have been more accomodating and that Spanish restaurant was the highlight of that portion of our trip.
