Hotel recommendation in Frankfurt

I've been convinced that I don't need to book a hotel near the airport for our one night stay in Frankfurt the night before we fly home. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out a good place to stay in Frankfurt. We will take the train from Munich on a Saturday, stay overnight in Frankfurt and fly out on Sunday around 11 am. We would like to utilize the public transportation to get to the airport and from the train station. Our budget is between $100 and $150.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Last time I flew out of FRA, I spent my last night in Mainz at Hotel Königshof.

The hotel is directly across the Bahnhofsplatz from the Hauptbahnhof in Mainz. They charge €72-€82 for a double for a night, with a great breakfast buffet, including traditional German items plus customary American ones.

The S-Bahn leaves every half hour and takes 27 min to the Regionalbahnhof at the airport. It cost €3,80 per person.

When would you be in Frankfurt? There are dozens and dozens of hotel choices in your price catagory, including some quite charming and pretty B&B's.

Depending on which station you get off at, the trip to the airport takes between 11-15 min. and there are trains every 20 min.

I like using www.hrs.com and found the following hotels which should meet your criteria and which I also know to be decent places. You can check their websites or use hrs and see which one gets you the better deal. I used the dollar feature. I starred the ones I thought were either the most charming or had the best deal & location.

Cristal - $60.45,(by HBF N.exit) includes B.Fast

Hotel Concorde -$90.00 (1 block away from HBF)

InterCity Hotel FF -$94.21 (by HBF N.exit)w/B.Fast

25Hours by Levis - $95.00 (right by the HBF N.exit)

*Intercontinental - $95.00 (on the river, great deal)

Victoria - $96.00 (3 blocks from HBF)w/ B.Fast

*McGallery Savigny - $99.50 (Westend, Nicest neighborhood, a few blocks from HBF)

*Neue Kraeme - $99.50 (great location, near the Hauptwache and Alt Stadt, you can catch your train to airport from here - 15 min.) w/ B.Fast

*Villa Florentina - $105.00 (Westend, includes B.Fast)

*Nizza - $107.00 (gorgeous, central)

Alexander am Zoo - $87.85 w/B.Fast

*Spener House - $109.00 (near Dom & Alt Stadt, quiet, w/B.Fast)

*Art Hotel Robert Meyer - $119.00 (Westend, w/B.fast)

*Dirazi Guesthouse - $125.00 - (Westend)

On the 12th is also the Rose and Tealight festival in the Palmengarten. Might be interesting for you to visit.

Thanks all for the replies. I am taking Lee's advice and staying at the Hotel Koenigshof. It looks very convenient and we got a very reasonable rate. It has a lot of great reviews on Trip Advisor - thanks Lee!

I look forward to being able to answer questions (rather than just ask them) once we return from our trip. Just a week away now - I am getting very excited.

Thanks again.
