Hotel Pulitzer and Hotel Jazz in Barcelona

Has anyone stayed in either of these hotels?

Has anyone reading this board ever been in Barcelona? Just a little joke since I didn't get any hits on my request for hotel recommendations there.

Thanks. I have not seen that website before. Both hotels are there, although I couldn't find the reviews. I guess the fact that they are there tells me what I need to know though.

Sherry: Yes, your last sentence is absolutely correct. The way the Michelin Guide hotel selections works is: When you initially search in the box at the upper left and when you click Hotels Selected by the Michelin Guide, you'll get only hotels that are in the Guide, they have a reputation in Europe, over the last 75 to 100 years, for not putting back bad hotels in the Guide in the first place.Click Search and array the resulting list By Name, so that you can find your two hotels easily. Then scroll down the webpage and look in the middle, for the bigger box with the detailed writeups, photos, map, etc. The top Michelin rating for hotels is 4 stars (unlike restaurants where the top rating is 3 stars like the Michel Bras restaurant you'll be going to in France). I'm looking at your two hotels now, the Pulitzer is rated higher **** than the Jazz at . Michelin has their own professional reviewers and therefore doesn't rely on the comments of customers who may have just had a bad night (for those go to TripAdvisors). If you stay in a Michelin * hotel, you can be rather certain you won't have a bad experience.

Sherry: You got our attention! :)I think what's happening on the Helpline is that we're getting inundated with so many "recommend a hotel in ___" questions that some of the regular repliers (including me) have pretty much stopped trying to pretend we're hotel reviewers and don't answer that many hotel questions anymore, especially since there are better sources of information at Viamichelin and TripAdvisors. Tripadvisor and Michelin are professional hotel reviewers who keep up with the properties. But not to worry: You'll still probably find a few repliers who will tell you where they happened to stay and it didn't work out badly. What I do is pay close attention to the recommendations and selections of the professional reviewers at Michelin, they've been reviewing hotels in Europe for about 75 years now and their opinion is respected by Europeans. Here's the online version of the Michelin Guide http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/gbr/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm. If the two hotels you're considering are good, you'll find ratings and reviews in Michelin; and if they aren't listed, that tells you something important right there.

Kent: Thanks and agree with what you say about hotel reviews. If one already has a name of a hotel one wants to check out that is tru. If one is looking for some exceptional hotels it is great to have a human view instead of having to filter thru the thousands of hotels in tripadvisor.
