we are going to be in Interlaken in october and are looking for a b&B or mid price hotel near rail station

mike, Just to clarify, there are two rail stations in Interlaken, east and west. Most of the recommended lodgings tend to be closer to the west station. I think it would be accurate to say that most of the group here prefers to stay in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, so experience with Interlaken lodgings may be "limited". You might have a look at This Hotel or This B&B to see if one of these meet your criteria. Happy travels!

I stayed at the Rugenpark this past September and thought it was great. Its just a few minutes from the West station, and also right by a grocery store. The owners are extremely nice and helpful and full of information. That said, the only reason I stayed here was because everything in Lauterbrunnen was full. I wish I could have stayed in Lauterbrunnen, just because its in the middle of things; Interlaken is a 20 minute train ride from Lauterbrunnen.
