Hotel Opera Madrid

Found this hotel in Rick's 2011 Spain guide. Made reservations in February via email. Have since emailed 4 times (for more information and now, final confirmation) all with no response. Has this hotel gone out of business? We're leaving in just a few weeks.

Have you called them? And if you have not, I would suggest you do so but be mindful of the time differences so that you do not call them at 3 AM.

I was just in Madrid (did not stay there - stayed at Hostal Las Fuentes - highly recommend it, by the way. It's a couple of blocks from the Opera Metro stop, in Plaza Isabel II, and a few blocks down from Plaza del Sol). Hotel Opera was open and running. Maybe they changed their email address or your email is going into spam?

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I thought about that spam issue. But the last email I sent I did by replying to THEIR confirmation of my reservation. It was an active email we were both using to correspond over the original course of a few days. I have since made a reservation in another hotel and will cancel this one shortly. What has me concerned is a post on TripAdvisor where the traveler said that Hotel Opera contacted her by email shortly before she was due to arrive and made accommodation for her in another hotel without her permission. Something fishy going on here. Again, thank you.
