I am a single travelling to Paris. Where would you suggest I stay in the Eiffel Tower Region of Paris so that I could safely travel to and from the Fat Tire Bike Tours and my hotel?
You can travel safely almost anywhere in Paris, you know, so don't limit yourself as to where you will stay.
Carolee,
I'm also a single traveller and I've found that staying in the Rue Cler area is very convenient for walking to the Eiffel Tower. Have a look in either the France or Paris Guidebooks, as there are lots of Hotels listed in various price ranges.
I found that walking time from the Grand Hotel Leveque to the Eiffel Tower was about 15 minutes.
Rue Cler is also has convenient Metro access (Ecole Militaire), ease of walking to other Museums in the area and a good selection of restaurants, etc.
As I recall, Fat Tire Bike Tours is the same organization that offers Segway tours in Paris. They're a lot of fun so you might have a look at those too.
Happy travels!
As Norma said, you can travel anywhere in central Paris safely. So you could choose a hotel in much more interesting neighborhoods than near the Eiffel Tower and still get to the Fat Tire tours easily.
In the 7th, the Rue Cler is very popular. But there isn't that much around (except the Eiffel Tower) in immediate walking distance. Look into Rue de Abbesses (below Montmarte but not in the red light district) or the Marais. As a single, you have a lot of options.
Carole, we stayed at the Hotel Eiffel Seine, very close to the Eiffel tower and right in front of the metro station Bir Hakeim. We enjoyed our stay there.
Thanks for your response!
I'll recommend Hotel de la Tulipe…a couple of blocks east of rue Cler…minutes walking distance from the Tour Eiffel. It has a boutique feel and is built around the stone walls of a former convent…very cool place: http://www.paris-hotel-tulipe.com/
