Hotel near Rue Cler for 3 people (parents and teenager)

Most rooms seem to be for 2 people only. I'm slowly making my way through them one by one. The only room I found so far was 450 euros/night.

Hi Greg,

I don't have a specific recommendation for Rue Cler but we traveled with our teen-aged nephew in January and rented an apartment for 5 nights for 110 Euro per night through VRBO (Vacation Rental by Owner.) The apartment small but perfect for our needs and located on Iles St. Louis.

You might also consider looking in the Marais or Latin Quarter.

In April 2006 my husband and I stayed at the Hotel Muguet and loved it. I was just on their website and it seems their rates have gone up (I guess 3 years and some hotel renovations will do that), but they have a triple room advertised at €190/night. It's still more than I'd personally pay, but better than €450...

Great location near Rue Cler and our room had a view of the Eiffel Tower.

I also like Sharon's suggestion (above) of getting an apartment. Never done so myself (one day...), but lots of people on this board have and seem to get great deals.

Greg, I am also going to suggest an apartment. We took our daughter to Paris for New Year's and rented a one bedroom apartment in the Latin Quarter through VRBO.com. We paid $145 per night and it was perfect. I highly recommend an apartment as you will have so much more space than you will in a small hotel room. We had a kitchen, washer/dryer, wi-fi and laptop, a free phone to call home, amongst other things. We stayed in Rue Cler our first trip, and although it is a very nice area it is very quiet and not much to do in that area. That is why we stayed in the Latin Quarter (5th) when we took our daughter. It is very easy to walk to many things from the 5th and there is also good metro access. When are you going?

Is an apartment a realistic option for only 4 nights? We'll be there from August 31st through September 4th.

My wife and I have been to Paris twice before, but it will be our daughter's first trip. My wife and I also speak serviceable French; we'd be OK in a place without much English.

Hotel Kensington i5 a good option and they have rooms for 3. They are in rue cler area and walkning distance to Eiffel Tower. They are no frills but clean and have elevator and ensuite bathrooms. at a great location.

We stayed at Hotel Levesque - two adults and one 8 year old. I'm certain it was priced as a triple. Hotel is absolutely nothing fancy but for us it was perfect. We were there in February and Rue Cler was perfect - I don't recall seeing any other tourists around. Husband and I could sit outside and eat and send son over to little supermarket to buy candy and practice his french.

Greg,

I think that some apartment owners will rent for 4 nights. On www.VRBO.com you can check the availability by clicking on the calendar and also by sending an e-mail to the owner. As an example, the apartment we used was #94988 but it is not available for the dates that you need--if your dates are flexible it might work for you. There are also many other options.

Best,
S

Hi Greg,

Most of the apartments at vacationinparis.com rent for a minimum of three nights, and they are currently running August specials.

Greg, triples are quite common in Paris. Are you looking at hotel websites from recommended hotels in Rick's book?

Hotel Relais Bosquet (I think that is the name, I know it has Bosquet in the name) near the Rue Cler has a wonderful apartment with a bedroom with a double bed and murphy beds in the living room, a small kithenette, one bath and a washer and dryer. I think it would be perfect for parents and one teenager.

I know it can be rented for less than a week, at least in 2008 it could, because I rented it for four nights last year.

Hi, Greg,

My friends also stayed at Grand Hotel Levesque (2006) in a triple, with their teenage son, right by Rue Cler, and they were very happy with it.

We stayed in 2007 in an apartment with Paris Perfect for a week and loved it. At the time it was $350 per night (dollars), but they have many apartments to choose from, ALL near Rue Cler. You might want to contact them since the economy is so slow, and see whether you could book for 4 nights.

I forgot about Paris Perfect. We rented an apartment from them in April of this year. It was fantastic, it even had a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower. We rented it for five nights so I don't think renting by the week is required for all apartments. I think our apartment was called the Cotes du Rhone or something like that. It had two bedrooms, a combination living room dining room, a small kitchen and a washer/dryer combination.

Just call the hotels you are interested in and ask them if they have any "triples". Many hotels have triples, but they are often not listed on the hotel's website.

I agree that an apartment is a better option if you are going to be in Paris long enough. Some apartments will only rent for a minimum period of time which can range from 3-7 days, depending upon the season.
