We have an early (7:00 a.m.)flight out of Madrid, so we will be returning from Granada the night before. Does anyone have a recomendation for a hotel near the airport?

If you don't get a suggestion from a traveler, do a google search for "Madrid airport hotel" See what you find there.

The Ibis Barajas airport hotel (part of the Accor chain) goes from 59 Euro/night for 2. The local shuttle service cancelled its stop here recently (not sure why) but it should be easy to get a cab arranged. http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-3753-ibis-madrid-aeropuerto-barajas/index.shtml . A little farther afield, the Ibis Valentin Beato is only a 15-minute, 16 Euro cab ride from the airport....it's only a block from the Suances metro stop in east Madrid. Barry, you would have no problem with staying downtown for an early flight. At that time of day the city is absolutely dead. We stayed near P. de Sol and were at the airport is about 20 mins around 5 AM.
