Hotel Near Burg Eltz?

Is there a nice pension or B&B near Burg Eltz? I see a few people have recommended a quaint hotel in Beilstein but that looks a bit too far.

Unless you have a car, and Beilstein in no way justifies the added expense, Beilstein is, like, nowhere. Because of all of the hype, I went to Beilstein in Nov 2008. I was very disappointed. It's a very small town, easily visited in a couple of hours, and difficult to get to. Other than the ruined castle above the town, there is really nothing noteworthy. I found a nice place in Treis-Karden, and, although there is nothing noteworthy there, either, it is at least on the main rail line.

If you really want to be near Burg Eltz, there are a few places in Moselkern, at the foot of the hiking trail to Burg Eltz. Better yet, go to the Marksburg, in Braubach, the only other castle in the area that has never been destroyed. It's much more accessible, and preserved, as it was hundreds of years ago, by the German Castle association.

I would suggest either Cochem, on the Mosel, or Trier as good places to stay near Burg Eltz. Both are nice places and both have good lodging. Neither is right next door but both will allow you to reach Burg Eltz quickly using a local train.

Cochem is 16km from Moselkern, where you start your walk to Burg Eltz. Trier is another hour to 1 1/2 hours past Cochem.

I really like the walk to the castle. It was one of those memorable pleasant surprises for me.
