hotel near Brandenburg Gate?

I just googled "map of Brandenburger Tor, Berlin" - a map came up and on the left, among other items, "hotels near Brandenburg Gate". Click on that and you get quite a few listings plus a map with little beds on it and if you click one of them, the name of the hotel pops up. This map also lists the underground stations in the area, among other stuff.

Most of the options in that neighborhood are business class hotels, which Mr. Steves seems to think will ruin his followers' vacations. Hence, no recommendations in that vicinity. That being said, I stayed at the Maritim Hotel, which was about a 5 minute walk away from the gate. It's not cheap, but I enjoyed it.

kristen, If you have a very generous budget for hotels,you could consider the Hotel Adlon Kempinski, which is right at the Brandenburg Gate. It's a very high-end property, so the prices reflect that. It's not hard to get to the Brandenburg Gate from anywhere in Berlin. If you'd like a suggestion for more modest accommodations, post another note. Happy travels!
