Any suggestions for a hotel near the Lisbon airport? We are ony staying a couple of days. Plan to rent a car for one day. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Airport is close to town - I'd stay in Lisbon. How many days will you be there?

Yeah, Lisbon's airport is actually in the city center, and not the outskirts like lots of other international airports. So essentially any hotel in the city center will work. There's more than enough sights, and activities to keep you occupied for two days. A rental shouldn't be necessary to get around, the city's tram, and metro system will take anywhere you need to go.

a rental in Lisbon would be impossible! Bob - we loved Lisbon. I was totally ready to be un-impressed but found Lisbon to be such a beautiful city to wander.

Bob, my wife and I stayed at the Tryp Oriente a year ago - it was great. It is less than 5 minutes from the airport, on the riverfront with cafes, restaurants, views, etc, and adjacent to the train station that will either take you north toward Porto or south into Lisbon. I good and convenient choice. Although I'm not sure you'll need a car for only a couple of days (the Lisbon metro transit sytem is very complete), car rentals should be no problem. Also, no probems if you choose to stay in Lisbon - a wonderful city - approx. 30 minute taxi to airport.
