Hotel Malon, Leuven, Belgium. Feedback sought

Hi. I recently posted a query re: staying a night or two at a city near Brussels before a Rick Steves tour. A recommendation was Leuven, and someone thought they remembered a hotel right across the street from the train station. I think they may be referring to the Hotel Malon. Price is reasonable (for expensive Brussels). Anyone know this particular hotel?

Rick Steve's guidebook only includes Brussels and Brugge. Don't get me started...

To be honest, Leuven isn't the type of place people would necessarily travel across the ocean just to see. But, it's pleasant enough and worth a short visit for people in the area... which would fit your plans, as you mentioned in a previous post.

That sounds like me who mentioned the hotel. I've driven or walked by it many of times, but never stayed there. Because I'm probably the only one of the regulars on this site who has ever been to Leuven... you probably won't get a response on this website. Perhaps Trip Advisor has a review?

PS- Here's a tip that you won't find in any guidebook. For dinner, check out the restaurants along pedestrian-only Munstraat. It's like Brussels' Rue Boucher with better food and no tourists. And for a beer afterwards, proceed nearby to the cafes on the Oude Markt (not to be confused with the Grote Markt where the cathedral and Stadhuis sit).

Thanks, Tom for the reply. I did look on TripAdvisor, looks pretty good, but I trust the Rick Steves site. It's strange that Leuven doesn't seem to be mentioned in either Rick's guidebook or Frommers....
