Ibis is always a good bet, You could also look at Vener.com or Booking.com. We have found both to be good sources oaver the years.

Susan, The Hotel Bets was referring to is Stern Hotel. They've changed the website, and it doesn't seem as "user friendly" now for English speakers (click on one of the white circles to get to the main part of the website). If you do a search for "Stern Hotel Lucerne" and then click the link that says "Translate This Page", the translation works reasonably well. I found the rooms to be very comfortable, the food in the restaurant was good (both for breakfast and dinners), and the staff were great. It's in a very convenient location, about a 10 minute easy walk to the river and Chapel Bridge. It is possible to walk from the station, but I'd recommend a Taxi when arriving with luggage. As mentioned, you might want to request a room on the back, away from the sidewalk Café. I'm usually out touring until well into the evening, so noise wouldn't be a concern for me. My room was on the back, so I didn't notice any noise at all. You might want to check Trip Advisor just to get a range of opinions. I'd absolutely recommend the Hotel. Happy travels!
