Does anyone have experience w/ the Hotel Le Regence in Arles? It got very good writeups, even in Rick Steve's, but we cannot determine how far/near it is to most sites, and to the city center. Are there places to see and to eat very near it? We are also considering the Hotel du Forum, which sounds more centrally located. We would really apprec. any help - thx.

I stayed at the Hotel Regence in July of 2006. Good points are it's about the closest hotel to the station (where there was a Hertz location which I utilized for a day trip to Nimes/Pont du Gard and Les Baux). Was clean, my room was large, and the river view from my room was quite nice.
Bad points were it was relatively remote from the main "sights" and the neigborhood wasn't the nicest. I wanted to stay at Hotel du Forum, but it was booked.

We stayed there years ago and liked it. Probably not as lively as a hotel located right on Place Forum, but the distances are not great.
