We are traveling to Zurich for 2 days on May 16-17th. Can you recommend an affordable hotel? We do not want to be at the airport, but rather in the heart of the city or close by. We will be out during the day so just want a nice hotel to sleep in that is in walking distance to attractions.

Zurich has some classy but very expensive hotels. We have never stayed at one of those. Instead, we prefer the moderately-priced 3-star smaller places. Our favorite so far is Hotel Adler, right in the Altstadt pedestrian zone. Very Swiss, great location. One I might try next time is the Townhouse Boutique Hotel, a newer place, English-style, and closer to the train station.
