We will be staying overnight in Zurich to catch a connecting train. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation that is inexpensive and clean? I am avoiding looking in guide books and hotel websites because it is so overwhelming to sift through those for a one night stay. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

We stayed at Hotel St Gotthard and enjoyed it. Great restaurant and within easy walking distance of station. May be a bit pricey, depends on when you are staying.

There's nothing inexpensive in Zurich! Take a look at easyhotel.com. You get a small room with bath for about $100 per night, depending on the time of year and how far ahead you book. Everything is extra there, so if you want to watch TV or use Wi-Fi you will pay for it. However, this was half the cost of anything else I could find in Zurich in September, so we're going to try it.
