Where is a great place to stay in Sevilla in July? All the places in RS book look great.
Look for a hotel in the old town. We stayed in an apartment so can't give you a recommendation. If you go to tripadvisor check the reviews there on the hotels Rick recommends. If both places have good things to say about the same hotel you'll be fine. Sevilla is absolutely wonderful. There is an Irish pub right across from the cathedral that has really good food and not expensive. Outside tables and always packed. All the employees speak English and very friendly. We spent a week there and didn't see it all.
We stayed at the Don Paco in December and it was fine for us....there's a supermarket right next door. Within walking distance of what we were interested in...don't skip the Alcazar...and if you want to go up on top of the "Parasol", the entrance is a ramp that goes under the structure near the large outdoor stairs, to the left. Nice view, elevator up, but you have to walk down. Happy Trails.
Thanks for the help and the great tips.
We stayed at the "Ric Pic "Hotel Amadeus, and absolutely loved it . Great staff, location, and rooms. The rooms in the newer section were all the more remarkable. Read the reviews in Trip Advisor.
Just a note on the Irish Pub - it is now closed. Though not sure why you would want to go to one, with all the wonderful spanish bars in Seville. Hotel Amadeus gets good reviews as does Hotel Alcantara and Hotel Murillo. We have only ever stayed in apartments in Seville, mainly using www.sevilla5.com. July will be hot, so if heat bothers you, ensure air conditioning and if you do go for an apartment, ensure the bedroom has aircon, as sometimes apartments will be advertised as being air conditioned but the only unit is in the living area.
In July, don't pick a place without air conditioning. I like tripadvisor as a place to read reviews on a large number of options.
Casa 1800 is a really nice place to stay. The location, on the edge of Barrio Santa Cruz and the cathedral square, and close to the Alcazar, is perfect. We loved the rooftop terrace with it's view of the Giralda. We liked to relax up there at dusk with a bottle of cava before going out for dinner. Also, they put out free beverages and snacks in the late afternoon, a sort of tea-time refreshment. It is the top-rated place on Tripadvisor and well deserves that rating. Check out the photos there.
I have not stayed here, but did check it out on my last visit. Will definitely stay here this summer when I am there. Good location, quiet side street/alley. http://www.patiosantacruz.com/es.html
Sad news on the Irish Pub. Tapas are wonderful but after a few days having a change in taste was nice.
Hotel Un Patio en Santa Cruz is a good price, since it is a two star place. Read the reviews on Tripadvisor carefully. It looks fine for a single, but some people complained about the double rooms being "Spartan" and having the double bed against the wall, so hard to get out of for one person of the two. Check out Hosteria del Laurel, although to think of it I'm not sure if it has AC.
The Hotel Maestranza was fantastic and very economic. It is in a great part, in the center of town, within walking distance of the cathedral and Barrio Sta. Cruz. The building was completely renovated 2 years ago.
