hotel in Reutte

Looking for a hotel in Reutte, Austria for my 13 year old, my wife and me for two days at the end of December. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Rather than Reutte, I would stay in Pfronten. I changed trains and looked around Reutte, and IMO, it's a dump. I stayed in nearby Pfronten, and it was much nicer. Consider staying in Gasthof Aggenstein. I didn't stay there, but I looked in and I thought it looked nice. Aggenstein is right across the street from the bus to Pfronten-Ried Bhf, from which there are buses to Füssen twice as often as from Reutte.

Agree, unless you're a Rick Steves completist, there's no reason to stay in Reutte... especially in December, when you can't hike and there's much better skiing just down the road.

We stayed at Gasthof zum Schluxen. It was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. Great rooms and breakfasts. I picked it as a splurge for my daughter because it's supposed to be a working farm. My advice, if you like a really nice hotel (and are willing to pay for it) this is the place. If you want a working farm, this isn't it. There were some reindeer across the street that could be fed through the chain-link fence. The animals in cages in the back are NOT for kids to look at. The management got upset when our kids even looked at the line of cages which I think had rabbits and/or chickens in them.

I'll agree that there's no real reason to stay in Reutte, but I can recommend Hotel Moserhof just down the road in quiet Breitenwang. I stayed here a couple of years ago...big, clean rooms and great restaurant. It's a very nice place. Check out the culture and sport tabs on their website for ideas on things to do. Downhill and cross-country skiing are nearby. http://www.hotel-moserhof.at/e-index.html

As someone who prefers to use public transportation in order to avoid the unnecessary expense of renting a car, the first thing I look at in a place is convenient access. Not sure about Moserhof, but Zum Schluxen doesn't have it. That's why I like Pfronten.

I wouldn't stay in Reutte in the winter. I wouldn't say it's a dump, as others have, but you're better off staying closer to the sites you plan to visit in the winter. The less you have to drive up there, or walk lugging a suitcase from a train station, for that matter, the better. I'm a former northern Minnesotan, but even I don't like to navigate the roads near Reutte in the winter. They are narrow, winding and desolate. For all those same reasons, I love the drive up there in the summer/fall. Have a great trip!
