Looking for a central hotel for 4-5 nights in Paris with my 22 year old daughter. Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!
We like Hotel de la Tulipe: http://www.paris-hotel-tulipe.com/
I would suggest Hotel de Grandes Ecoles in the Latin Quarter--on Rue Cardinal Lemoine. It has a courtyard garden and is very charming. Met a mom & her 22 yr old daughter there on our last trip--they loved the hotel. It is gated at night and feels very secure and is quiet. Staff is great and the location perfect--short walk to ND and huge choice of restaurants in every price range.
My favorite hotel in Paris is Hotel de Lutece on Ile Saint Louis, the little island right behind the island where Notre Dame is. Wonderful hotel and charming neighborhood...you can't get more central.
I have had great success leasing from Vacation in Paris. Gives you great flexibility to eat some meals at home and any other benefit of really being a local.
Laura,
One Hotel I'd recommend is the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel, which is in the Rue Cler area. Some of the corner rooms have a view of an Eiffel Tower. When you open the curtains in the morning, it's a wonderful reminder that you're actually in Paris!
Cheers!
Hotel Nepoleon half a block from both the Arc and Champs. Great hotel great location Fam owned since 1924 Old Paris charm. Review their web site for specifics.
I second the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. I think it's a place that suits 'girls' of all ages, unless you're allergic to floral prints :) The hotel also has a pretty little garden and is quite conveniently located. My friend and I also stayed at the Hotel Sevigne in the Marais which had small but decent rooms, and enjoyed the area very much - bakeries, food shops, restaurants nearby. We like food so it was nice to stop by the cheese shop, boulangerie, and the shop that sold kitchen accessories ...
For my trips to Paris, I never stayed anywhere else but with Hotel Muguet. It is very well maintained and near 2 metro stops. It is near the Eiffel Tower and a lot of good restaurants and open markets in the 6th arrondisement which most guides suggest would be a good place to stay especially for first timers. It is safe to walk around even at night and they are very flexible with your luggage if you arrive early or leaving late for the airport (storing it in a safe room). I highly recommend it.
Check out Hotel Mansart just around the corner from Place Vendome (and The Ritz). Great location and reviews.
I also recommend the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. Another option that I can recommend is renting an apartment from Relais Bosquet.
