hotel in paris family of 5

We are traveling to france and plan on spending 2 nights in paris ... we are a family of 5 with a 6 year old and 3year old twins. All the hotels say we need 2 rooms even with 3 kids.. Any recommendations?? we would like to stay near the eiffel tower or jardin de luxemburg..
thanks for any tips

Another alternative might be to rent an appartment. That is usally cheaper than two hotel rooms and you have more room to move. Try www.vrbo.com to get some ideas on availibility and price.

An apartment is a great idea, although you may find it difficult to rent one for only two nights. That could depend on what time of year you are traveling.

If you haven't been to Paris be forewarned, hotel rooms are very small. Here we are used to rooms with two full or queen beds in a room. There you will find typically one full sized bed that takes up most of the room. Some hotels have family rooms that could be bigger.

You might try Hotel La Louisiane. Not the area you asked for exactly, but a good location, we thought. We stayed there in August (family of four) and we had a room on the top floor that had two rooms and get this, two bathrooms! I think the bed configuration was probably flexible, but our kids (teens) slept in two twins in one room, and we had two twin size beds pushed together in the other room. There was a pocket door in between that could be closed. It seems that if your twins can sleep together that might work, if the hotel would allow it. One bathroom had a large (modern)tub (whirlpool, maybe? I only used it for laundry!), and the other a small shower. The decor of the hotel is minimal, but our room had closets, a small refrigerator, and looked relatively freshly painted, new beds, etc. For anyone else, two bathrooms is a big plus when traveling with teens!

Another bonus to getting an apartment, especially with ones that little, is that you can put them to bed in another room while you guys go open a bottle of wine in the kitchen. Our guys usually go to bed by 8, and I know I'm not ready to sleep then, and they go to sleep easier if there's not an awake adult in the room with them. You also have a kitchen there, so you can make some meals at home. Having dinner out with small children after running around all day isn't always fun, either.

Have you checked in the Paris Rick Steves guide? He always lists hotels that have "family rooms," and he has quite a few hotels listed in both of your areas.

Hi,

I'd really have to recommend Vacation In Paris for an apartment, they're based in New Jersey and we found them to be very good. We got an apartment from them for 5 nights last September. They send you the keys before we go, are very prompt in responding to any inquiries, and deliver exactly what they promise, there were no bad surprises at all, in fact we were prepared to have set our expectations too high, and it turned out the apartment was even better than we had hoped!

And you can't beat the value, when we were looking at prices and comparing to hotels we figured there had to be a catch. Nope, no catches at all. Most have 3 night minimums though...

No matter which way you go, Paris is wonderful, we've been there twice now and can't wait to go back, we went the hotel route the first time which was fine, but now we're hooked on apartments.

Enjoy your trip

In terms of pricing: Even if you STAY for only two nights it may still be cheaper for you to PAY for 3 nights in an appartment if that's their minimum stay policy.Paying for 2 rooms for 2 nights in a hotel can easily add up to a higher bill. Hotel rooms that can accommodate a family of 5 are very rare in Europe.

First of all a 5 year old, a six year old and 3 year old twins ? are you insane?

But anyway, we a family of 5 (2 teens and an 8 year old) stayed at Hotel Margiran (spelled something like that) there is a thread about this place here already. Good location, lots of stairs
