I need to find a hotel in Paris that is near to the attractions. I have 5 people looking at doing 2 rooms. Does anybody know where I can get good rates too?? Otherwise are also looking at finding a hotel outside of Paris to get better rates. But not sure about transportation. Please Help!! Thanks Kari
I recommend Hotel de L'Avre...www.hoteldelavre.com
Kari,, what is "good rates" , you have to be specific. Some people think 200 euros is a good rate,, others 50, or 100.. you really have to be more clear.
There are so many great options,, do post back with more info. .. also, when is trip??
We would be checking in April 15 and out on April 17. Looking at ranges in USD of $70-100 per night.
Try HOTEL DE TURENNE near rue Cler and Ecole Militaire Metro, or HOTEL REPUBLIQUE near Republique Metro. Both are decent, have elevators, and are relatively inexpensive. With the current exchange rate, you are asking for a rate of less that 67 Euros/night. For a double or triple, you may need to look in the Let's Go book for Paris. That book lists many less expensive hotels. For a two-day visit, don't stay outside Paris. You would be spending too much time traveling.
You don't need to go "outside of Paris" to find good rates. Attractions are at the end of a central metro stop. Paris is a walking city. Notre Dame to the Eiffel tower is maybe a forty-five minute stroll and the area betwixt the two will cover most of what you want to see with perhaps an "excursion" to Montmartre. The Campanile chain (campanile.com) has triples around the city. All ETAPs (etaphotel.com) have triples. I've found the most handy ETAP is the one on Rue Babinsky (listed as Port de Montmartre) which is a five minute walk to metro and ten-fifteen minute ride to heart of things. The Campanile on Ave du Maine (Montparnasse)is in a neighborhood that I like better than Rue Cler (fewer tourists, more regular people). A couple of minutes to metro, then a ten minute ride, or just walk the whole thing (a tad more than a mile along Blvd St- Michel, less if you cut through Lux Gardens).
I searched this site and Trip Advisor and booked Hotel Beaugency
www.hotel-beaugency.com, [email protected]).
I would recommend Hotel de Londres Eiffel. It is very near the Effiel Tower and Champs de Mars park. The rooms are small, but all rooms in Paris are small.
Wow,, I am surprised that you all have been able to find so many hotels offering triples in the posters preferred price range of 45 to 67 euros.. are those hotels really available at those rates?
Kari,, I have been looking at hotels in San Diego and LA,, for under 150 dollars,, and its not easy.. Is there any way you could budge up a bit on budget,, or consider maybe a hostel? There is a hotel that is almost like a hostel,, called the Hotel Perfect. I haven't stayed there , but location is good, and rates are good, and reviews are ok.
Or, consider a hostel,, there are some decent ones. A young girl at my work stayed at St Christophers and thought it was good,, had to metro into most sights,, but she thought it was a good location, and it was new, clean etc.
Just looked at ETAP: 55 eur / night for triple. That'd work for me.
Kari, regarding rates, do you mean $70 (€48) to $100 (€70) per person, per double or for all 5 of you?
We are just trying to find a hotel that is not going to break out bank. I dont think that my mom wants to spend any more than $150 per night on each room. We are travelingby train to Paris from my brother place in the south of Netherlands. So we would like to be near the station if possible. Also we are leaving on the Eurostar train from Paris to London on the 17th so if anyone has any ideas on where to stay that would be great.
I have stayed at the hotel Croix de Malte lats year. http://www.croixdemalte-paris-hotel.com/.
Small rooms but it should be OK for you. Nice staff. It's next to the metro line 5 which takes you direct to the Gare du Nord for Eurostart in 4 stops without switching (switchin metro lines in Paris can be painful if you have luggage).

I you are traveling with your Mom, you need to see what expectations she has for a room. The price you are looking for per room is very very low especially for a triple. The location will be far or in a neighborhood that you don't want, with the standard of housekeeping bad, or a stark room, or with the bathroom down the hall. Think of staying in NY City or San Francisco for less than $150 per night per room. Not going to happen. Can your brother or his older friends make any suggestions keeping in mind your mother is going?
Most hotels in Paris have different prices for the number of people in the room. Triples are not always available and they may book quickly. The hotels in Europe have very small rooms not like our chains with 2 full/queen beds in each room.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for your budget. Please read Rick Steve's France or Paris book from the library and then buy it. It is full of wonderful info. Check out his recommended hotels. They are budget hotels that he has checked out.
