Have read many recommendations on Hotel Suisse- but no availability for my three nights at the end of march- help please on other hotels!
Joanne - My wife and I stayed at Le Grimaldi in 2006. They upgraded us to a Junior Suite which had a balcony facing the Med. It's about two blocks from the Promenade and close to Old Town. The hotel was clean and the employees were very helpful in planning our visit. I would definitely recommend it.

thanks so much........but also no room at the inn!
Nice Garden Hotel and Nice Home Sweet Home are 2 I stayed at and found acceptable. Easy walking distance from the train station. Check comments on Tripadvisor.
Joanne - I recommend Hotel Royal in Nice.
We stayed at Hotel Rex last June and can recommend it. Clean, good a/c, excellent location and friendly owners. Our room had a kitchenette and was about 90 euros/night.
I'm staying at Le Dortoir which is listed as a B&B (#1 on TA) at the end of April. There are only 3 suites but they all look lovely. A bit different than a regular hotel but a good option I think, if you don't require being on the beach.
We stayed at the Hipark residence
http://www.hipark-residences.com They are not really a hotel, more like an apt with pull out couches and patios and kitchen. the maid cleans every other day. The pull out couch was super comfortable, the place was super modern and spotless clean with so many amenities. It is at the residence side, so a tram ride from old Nice. walkable if you are young. but super walking distance close to Nice Riquier, which we used as a hub to get around cities near Nice.
If price makes a diffference, then the ETAP HOTEL Nice Californie Lenval, is 55 dollars per night for 3 persons. It is on the waterfront, close to downtown and the wonderful plaza.
