My partner and I will be staying over two nights in Nice between destinations, and are looking for a nice and reasonable place to stay. We had the Windsor Hotel Nice recommended, and it's in a great location (near the Promenade) but it looks a little weird to us! It's about 155 euros a night. Has anyone been there? Or somewhere else
that is equally well located but a little more homey?
Marjorie, In May, 2008 3 of us girls (our 2 adult daughters and I) stayed at the Mercure Marché aux Fleurs (h0962 ), not to be confused with the other Mercures in Nice. We had a Triple which included a loft and a view of the Mediterranean...if you leaned out the window! It was lovely, breakfast was fantastic and staff was helpful although speaking French seems to make them friendlier!
Not sure I'd call it homey but you could try the Hotel le Royal. You can't beat the location on the Promenade des Anglais and the view of the Med. The hotel is nice enough but more hotel-y than homey. I stayed there three years ago and would stay there again.
Two summers ago my husband and I stayed in the Star Hotel in Nice. It 's a 10-minute walk to Old Town - just checked it out online and a double is still cheap - 82 euros a night. It's clean and comfortable. I have very nice memories of it because the owner told us about the Tour de France going through Nice that day, which was great to watch. Nice is a terrific city - you'll love it!
There is an Etap =ETAP HOTEL Nice Californie Lenval
Hotel code : 2075 that is basically on the beach for 56 Euro per day. Sleeps 3 in bunk beds, insuite. Close to the casino, 3 blocks from the Promenade.
I second the motion for Hotel Le Royal. We went there after seeing the hotel we originally reserved, the Hotel Felix, which was dirty and unacceptable. We ate the cost of one night at the Felix and were glad we did.
