I am looking for a mid-range hotel to stay in Nice for 3 nights. Any recommendations? I'm considering the Hotel Durante or the Hotel de la Mer as listed in the French Riviera guidebook.

We stayed at the Hotel Lafayette last May and we liked it. It was reasonably priced. It was within walking distance everywhere, had a free computer to use, friendly staff and a good breakfast (cost extra, but worth it as I tried to find a better deal somewhere else). The only problem I had was that there was a bit too much of street noise so you might want to get a room that isnt facing the street. The rooms were a little small, but that didn't really bother us as we didn't spend that much time in there!

You can do much better...Hotel Duarte is rated* #102 out of 209 hotels, Hotel de la Mer is rated* 172 of 209 (many of the other hotels are unrated)...Nice Garden Hotel rated #1 for $116 per day great reviews and great location, Hotel Rex rated #7, great reviews, near ocean and old town, and only $106 per night...we stayed at the Mecure Nice Promenade des Anglais, rated #15 and had a wonderful time, with direct beach access, great breakfasts, ocean view from our room and close to old town.
