Hello,
I'm looking for a hotel recommendation for Munich in October. i won't be there for Ocktoberfest. I'm looking for something that is comfortable, clean, friendly and in a safe area of the city. I want to be somewhat conveniently located to get around the city. i would love any and all feedback. Thanks!
I've compiled this list from recommendations by regulars on this site. I've never stayed at any of them, so I can't personally say. (I always stay at a place in the eastern suburbs, but they don't speak English there.)
Blauer Bock
Viktualienmarkt
Royal
Uhland
Seibel
Münchner Kindl
Of them, three, Blauer Bock, Vikualienmarkt, and Münchner Kindl are near Marienplatz, near most of the sites. Royal and Uhland are close to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). I've walked past Uhland. It is in a nice neighborhood, but it's also a bit more expensive.
Thanks so much! This gives me several to look into. I appreciate the help.
I can personally recommend Hotel Uhland and would stay there again, but I also thought I would mention Wombat’s Hostel. Another Helpline member once recommended this place…it gets great reviews, is reasonably-priced, and looks good from their website. Just another option to add to your list.
Johanneskirche Park Inn.
Across the street from the train that runs every 20 mins and wisks you into Downtown Munich in no time (and if you take it in the other direction: the airport). Looks far if you map it, but with the train it's not.
We stayed a week won't even bother to shop around for another place if/when ever we go back.
Also: Best buffet breakfast hands down. Never ate better for breakfast on vacation!!
