Our family of five has one night in Madrid before flying back to the states early the next morning. We're looking for a hotel that's centrally located in Madrid so we can enjoy our last evening in Spain, but that is easy to get to the airport in the morning. Any suggestions?
As far as central location in Madrid, Hotel Europa in Plaza del Sol is one of the better places to stay, reasonable rates and within wlaking distance of the major atractions in Madrid. To get to Barajas via Metro requires two tansfers (1 euro per passenger for the entire trip) but the Airport bus may be more convenient. Check the following websites for additional info: www.madshuttle.com or www.europeshuttle.com
I’ll suggest Hostal Acapulco, which is a couple of blocks over and up from Hotel Europa (just a block down from Gran Via). It’s highly rated on tripadvisor (check there for photos and reviews), and our quad room in November was €85 per night. As for easy transportation to Barajas, use the Aerocity door-to-door shuttle. Your total cost for 5 should be about €40.
thank you!
We also stayed at Hostel Acapulco. It's a great price in an excellent location. The staff is helpful and the rooms are simply furnished and clean. As Michael mentioned the Hotel Europa is very nearby--while we didn't stay there we ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant--it's also well-located, looks nice but is more expensive.
