hotel in Lucerne close to train station

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a hotel in Lucerne very close to train station with own bathroom as we need to catch a 6am train to zurich for our flight.Price range is $100 to $120. After cost of hotel in wengen, I feel switzerland is so expensive but I always wanted to go and have never been so I have to. Thanks

Luzern is tough place to find a moderately priced hotel, especially close to the station.

Hotel des Alpes, across the river, is well-regarded and moderate, but still around 200 CHF for a double room. It's about a 10-minutes walk to the station.

Hotel Waldstaetterhof is very close to the station, but 260 CHF for a double
The Radisson Blu is alos very close (and very modern); room rates are a bit lower on weekends and there is a 25% discount for early booking (but I think that is prepaid).

Are you sure you need to leave at 6:00 am? What time is your flight from Zürich?

Sally,

I stayed at the Hotel Drei Koenige a couple of years ago. It is easy walking distance to the train station (on the same side of the river) and moderately priced for Switzerland.

Sally,

We're doing the same thing in August, and about a week ago I booked a room at the Hotel Ameron Flora. I got an excellent deal on Expedia -- $133 for a double (pre-paid, non-refundable). Not sure if it's still available. Absent a deal like that I think you'll have a hard time finding a room near the train station in your price range, I did a lot of looking!

We visited Lucerne for a half day then moved on to Interlaken. Many more hotels to choose from.

Try the Hotel Alpina Luzern. It's one block south and half a block west of the train station on Frankenstrasse. Look for brown signs outside of the train station. They will tell you which direction to head. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The lower level of the train station has a pharmacy and small grocery store among other things.

If you have time, walk to the right outside the hotel entrance and make another right at the first street. Take it to the river and the Chapel Bridge should be right there.
